Dear Parents & Guardians:
I am writing as a follow up to confirm that Grade 4 and 5 students will be returning to full in person learning across the district beginning on Monday, March 22nd.
The expansion of the hybrid model in these grades was formally approved as part of a school committee meeting earlier this week. Please know that we will communicate any specific changes to your child’s program or protocols related to this return as soon as possible. At this point, I do not foresee any staffing or homeroom changes related to this expansion for current grade 4/5 hybrid students as well as students enrolled in our full remote program in these grades.
QPS Superintendent Kevin Mulvey and his leadership team also presented on DESE’s recent guidance and timeline for returning students across the commonwealth to full in person learning. I have attached a copy of this presentation for your review as it may help to clarify some questions related to some possible physical distancing changes in our classrooms. The presentation also clarifies options for our full remote students to remain full remote or request a change to return to school for full in person learning. Also attached is the most recent district communication that should help to clarify some of these upcoming changes as well.
Please do not hesitate to contact me at stephensylvia@quincypublicschools.com if you have any questions or concerns regarding the attached presentation, specifics about the hybrid expansion or want to request a move to full in person learning in grades 1 through 5. I will also share any updates to the current Kindergarten model and plans for returning these students to full day as they become available.
Safety remains our top priority and we continue to ask for your support and reinforcement of our social distancing and quarantine protocols. Have a great weekend.
Sincerely,
Stephen Sylvia
