Squantum August 22, 2021 Update

Dear Parents/Guardians,

I am writing to share a few updates as we approach the start of the school year including an upcoming district Zoom webinar later this week on Thursday, August 26th at 5:00 pm about QPS COVID-19 safety protocols, continued pooled testing and plans for responding to positive cases in the new school year.

The Quincy school committee discussed a mask policy as part of a special meeting last week and supported the continuation of the mask mandate policy from last year for the start of the new school year.  The state board of education will be discussing the mask issue at a meeting this week and will be recommending a state-wide mask mandate for schools across the commonwealth.  I will certainly continue to keep you posted on QPS protocols and policies related to safety and COVID 19, including Squantum specific plans during the next few weeks.

I also wanted to let you know that your child’s homeroom teacher will be visible in the ASPEN portal on September 1st.  This is consistent with all QPS schools across the district.  Please email me at stephensylvia@quincypublicschools.com if you need a password reset or more information related to your ASPEN account.  New Kindergarten families will learn more about ASPEN at our scheduled orientation on Friday, September 10th.  Postcards with specific details about orientation as well as teacher information will be mailed to Kindergarten families prior to the start of the school year.

As always, thank you for always supporting Squantum school and please do not hesitate to reach out with any questions or concerns.  I am looking forward to a great start to the school year and best wishes to you and your family for a safe and fun rest of the summer.

Sincerely,

Stephen Sylvia
Principal, Squantum School
